The IPS Compass™ — Introducing the WHY-WHO-HOW-WHEN Assessment

March 20266 min read

We built IPS Compass™ because we kept watching organisations commit to HOW before they understood WHY. Here is how the assessment works and what the Project Readiness Report tells you.

The assessment is structured around four blocks: WHY, WHO, HOW, and WHEN. Each block contains a series of questions designed to surface the gaps that most programmes discover too late. The output is a Project Readiness Report — an exportable document you can share with stakeholders, procurement, and leadership.

WHY asks about your objectives and success criteria. WHO maps the information producers, consumers, and governance roles. HOW — only at this point — addresses tools, specifications, and software. WHEN covers phasing, sequencing, and resource planning.

The report does not tell you what to buy. It tells you what you need to know before you buy anything. That distinction has saved programmes millions.
